Bhavanisagar Assembly constituency is located in Erode district of Tamil Nadu and is reserved for candidates belonging to the Scheduled Caste category. In 2026 assembly polls, VP Tamilselvi emerged as the winner, with 72,391 votes, beating A Bannari of AIADMK with a margin of 4,569 votes. Bannari stood second in the contest with 67,822 votes while CPI’s PL Sundaram secured 63,107 votes. The constituency forms part of the Nilgiris Lok Sabha constituency and represents a largely agrarian belt in the Kongu region. The margin of victory stood at 13,104 votes, giving the AIADMK a clear win in the constituency.Earlier, in the 2011 Assembly elections, Bhavanisagar had 1,99,502 electors, with 1,63,511 valid votes recorded. Communist Party of India (CPI) candidate P L Sundaram won the seat with 82,890 votes, defeating DMK candidate R Logeswari, who secured 63,487 votes. The winning margin stood at 19,403 votes, reflecting the influence of Left parties in the constituency during that election cycle.Historically, the seat has alternated between different parties.
