NEW DELHI: Uttar Pradesh chief minister Yogi Adityanath on Tuesday said those “dreaming of a Babri structure” should abide by the law of the land, asserting that such a day would “never come.””Those who are dreaming of the Babri structure, to them I would like to say that the day will never come. Learn to live by the rules in India. Abide by the law of the land. If someone breaks the rules, the path will lead them straight to hell,” Adityanath said at an event in Barabanki. The BJP leader also took a jibe at “opportunists” who remember Lord Ram only when they are facing difficulties but forget Him once their problems are resolved.”Some opportunists remember Lord Ram when they face crises and forget Him later. So Lord Ram has also forgotten them. They will not succeed now. They will never go forward now,” he added.Hitting out at “Ramdrohis,” Adityanath further stated that there is “no place” for those who fire bullets at devotees of Lord Ram. He was referring to the November 1990 incident in which the Uttar Pradesh Police opened fire on “karsevaks” heading to Ayodhya to demolish the Babri Masjid. The state was being governed at the time by the Samajwadi Party government led by Mulayam Singh Yadav. The Babri Masjid was demolished by “karsevaks” on December 6, 1992. At the time, the BJP government led by Kalyan Singh declined to order police firing. Singh later resigned, and his government was subsequently dismissed by the central government. In November 2019, a Constitution bench of the Supreme Court, headed by the-then Chief Justice of India Ranjan Gogoi, unanimously ruled that the 2.77-acre disputed land in Ayodhya be handed over to a government-run trust for the construction of the Ram Mandir, ending the dispute. The bench also directed that an alternative five-acre plot be allotted to the Sunni Waqf Board for the construction of a mosque. The Ayodhya Ram Mandir was inaugurated in January 2024.
