Ahead of ECINet launch, EC asks citizens to test its trial version

NEW DELHI: Ahead of the expected launch of ECINet platform — which integrates 40 election-related apps or websites onto a single, unified application, enabling ease of use — later this month, Election Commission has invited all citizens to download its trial version and offer their suggestions on how to improve the platform.Suggestions may be given till January 10 by using the ‘submit a suggestion’ tab on the app, EC said in a release on Saturday. The trial version of the ECINet app enables better voter services, quicker availability of polling percentage trends and also the publication of index cards — compiling information and datasets from a recently held election — within 72 hours of close of poll, an exercise that previously took several weeks or months. The app was successfully tried out during the Bihar assembly elections and by-elections held last year. The ECINet platform is being continually improved and refined based on the feedback from state and UT chief electoral officers, district election officers, observers and other field officials. The user suggestions received over the next week shall be examined and the platform further updated, based on the suggestions found viable, to make it more user-friendly. The platform will officially be launched this month. ECINet is one of the major initiatives of the EC piloted by CEC Gyanesh Kumar.
