NEW DELHI :A group of 272 prominent citizens including retired judges, bureaucrats and armed forces veterans Wednesday wrote an open letter, lashing out at Congress neta Rahul Gandhi for unleashing his “impotent rage born out of repeated electoral failure” to tarnish EC’s dignity.They said Rahul has repeatedly attacked EC over accusations of “vote theft” using “unbelievably uncouth rhetoric”, and claimed he would “hound” officers when they superannuate from the poll authority. They said instead of offering “genuine policy alternatives,” Rahul has resorted to “unsubstantiated accusations.” “Yet, despite suchscathing accusations, there has been no formal complaint filed by him, along with the prescribed sworn affidavit, to escape his accountability for levelling unsubstantiated allegations and threatening public servants in performance of their duty,” said the letter signed by NGT chairman Adarsh Kumar Goel, former judges S N Dhingra, Hemant Gupta, Rajiv Lochan, former RAW chief Sanjeev Tripathi, former NIA director Y C Mod and former chief secretary of UP, Deepak Singhal.Congress challenges letter writers to question ECCalling the signatories “applicants in BJP’s post-retirement employment exchange”, Congress challenged the letter writers to ask EC how there are thousands of fake addresses and fake IDs in electoral rolls, and how hundreds have the address of one house.
