BAREILLY: A 19-year-old BCom student was set on fire just outside Hindu College here Thursday afternoon, shortly after completing an exam. Police said Aarush Singh, 21, a BA third-semester student, and Deepak Kumar, 20 who are from the same college allegedly hurled a flammable substance at Farhad Ali, causing serious burns on his thighs, reports Krishna Chaudhary. While the motive of the accused, who are on the run, is unknown, the violence has triggered tension prompting police presence around the campus. Farhad had just stepped out of the examination centre when the attack occurred at the college gate. A group of students and passers-by rushed to douse the fire. Police said he sustained 8% burn injuries but his condition is stable. Moradabad (city) SP Kumar Ranvijay Singh said, “It appears the attackers used a petrol-filled bottle, possibly a petrol bomb.”
