Zahan Kapoor On Career Choices: Actor says acclaim for ‘Black Warrant’ grows; no new projects

Black Warrant' actor Zahan Kapoor reveals having no projects in hand and calls the phase 'slow and difficult'

Zahan Kapoor, whose outstanding performance in ‘Black Warrant’ has garnered worldwide recognition, finds himself in a curious situation where acclaim hasn’t yet resulted in fresh projects. He conveys his heartfelt appreciation for the praise received, while also pointing out the industry’s slow pace of work.

Zahan Kapoor’s breakout performance in ‘Black Warrant’ earned him global attention and a wave of critical praise. The series put him firmly on the map and sparked curiosity about what he would do next. The actor says the momentum has not yet translated into signed projects.

Acclaim that keeps growing

In a recent interaction cited by Hindustan Times, Zahan Kapoor reflected on how the response to ‘Black Warrant’ continues to surprise him. “Black Warrant is a gift that keeps on giving,” he said. “The international recognition brings me great joy because it feels both touching and deeply respectful.”Kapoor described the praise as unexpected and organic. “These events occur without any warning which makes them unexpected surprises,” he said. He added that viewers often reach out to share their reactions. “People frequently share with me their positive experiences which result from my actions. I don’t know what the future holds.”

Why new projects are still pending

Despite the acclaim, Kapoor admitted that work has been slow to materialize. “There are some interesting things that I hope materialise, but it’s been slow,” he said. He pointed to factors beyond an actor’s control. “The reality is that even if people are loving your work, they are at the mercy of even bigger forces. Even with many people saying it was the best series of the year, it’s been difficult to make things happen. I want to be busy, I want to work with people I believe in, but I haven’t yet signed anything since Black Warrant.”He stressed that popularity is not his priority. “There are so many people who make announcements, but then nothing happens to their films. These are people who are craving publicity to stay relevant. One thing I can be very comfortable with is that I am not chasing relevance. I am chasing the people and stories, and I am trusting that by showing up and serving the story honestly and authentically, my relevance and significance will get taken care of. I am not trying to generate my own PR as managing my image is not my agenda. I am happy to participate in whatever comes to me.”Looking ahead, Kapoor remains patient. “My aim is to be a part of this mad world of media and entertainment in the biggest way possible and have the biggest impact. It’s not a self-indulgent process; it’s about generosity. Itna karne mein 10 saal lag gaye, and maybe aur 10 saal lagenge, but at least it’s all authentic. I will earn my magazine covers, my endorsements and other things, instead of it being a part of a strategy, and I will be proud of that. There is so much manipulation today that the core personality of the artiste gets lost. Some people know how to play this game, but I don’t. Peripheries have become the priority today.”
