YouTuber R. S. Karthik apologized to actress Gouri Kishan. He faced criticism for asking about her weight at a film press conference. Kishan responded strongly, calling the question disrespectful. Directed by Abin Hariharan, Others, starring newcomer Aditya Madhavan and Gour Kishan of ’96 fame, has hit theaters on November 7. However, the film has been embroiled in a major controversy even before its release. At a press conference held a day ahead of the film’s release, YouTuber R. S. Karthik asked actor Aditya, “You lifted Gouri Kishan, how much does she weight?” This question was considered insulting and inappropriate towards women, and drew strong criticism from the film industry. R. S. Karthik has now shared a video explaining his side of the statement.

Gouri Kishan delivers a bold and composed response

In response, Gouri Kishan gave a strong response in an interview to a private television channel. “Asking about body weight is tantamount to mocking an image. Would you ask an actor the same question? It’s disrespectful to ask about my weight without asking about my character or acting preparation,” she said. Gouri Kishan’s brave, calm response went viral on social media and received huge praise.

Celebrities and industry bodies rally behind Gouri Kishan’s stand

After this incident, many cinema stars Radhika, Sarathkumar, Chinmayi, Pa Ranjith, Khushbu, Kavin, and the South Indian Artists’ Association expressed their support for Gouri Kishan. As the controversy spread further, Gouri Kishan said in her statement, “It is unacceptable to question a girl’s body structure or appearance. But please don’t criticize that YouTuber. Thank you for the support I received,” she said. With this, Gouri Kishan showed her calmness and balance.

Now, the controversial YouTuber R. S. Karthik explained and apologized. He dropped a new video, in which he said, “I did not ask the question with the intention of offending actress Gouri Kishan. My question was misunderstood. I apologize if she was offended,” he said. But his explanation did not quell the controversy.
