When Salman mimicked Kishore Kumar

‘Dushman Duniya Ka’: When Salman Khan mimicked Kishore Kumar's iconic character from 'Padosan', did a cameo

Salman Khan has been part of several iconic films not just as a leading man, but also through unexpected cameo appearances that left a lasting impression. Recently, an old clip from ‘Dushman Duniya Ka’ (1996) resurfaced online, reminding fans of one of his most unusual and quirky on-screen moments.

Salman’s cameo moment

Salman appears in the second half of the film, playing a fictional version of himself. In the scene, the protagonist Lucky and his friends stumble upon Salman while he is shooting for a film. His get-up is deliberately eccentric, director Mehmood took a bold approach by making Salman mimic Kishore Kumar’s iconic character from ‘Padosan’, even dressing him in similar attire.Interestingly, his hairstyle in the cameo amusingly resembles the one he would later sport in Tere Naam. He is also made to sing a playful spin on the classic song ‘Meri Pyari Bindu’.The film also features a cameo by Shah Rukh Khan, who appears as an auto-rickshaw driver named Badru. His character brings warmth to the narrative as he supports Mahesh, introduces him to Reshma, and even helps Jeetendra financially.

About ‘Dushman Duniya Ka’

Directed by Mehmood, the movie blends drama, comedy, and moral lessons. Released in 1996, the story revolves around Mahesh, an honest man and father who discovers his son Lucky is addicted to drugs. Unable to save him from the addiction, a devastated Mahesh ends up killing his son in a moment of heartbreak.

Salman’s cameo legacy

Over the years, Salman has appeared in several films in small yet memorable roles, including ‘Kuch Kuch Hota Hai’ (1998), ‘Baghban’ (2003), ‘Ajab Prem Ki Ghazab Kahani’ (2009), ‘Tees Maar Khan’ (2010), and most recently SRK’s ‘Pathaan’ (2023). These cameos remain fan favourites because they showcase a playful and experimental side of the actor.
