When Ranveer said he is Deepika ‘designated cheerleader’

When Ranveer Singh was ‘very proud’ of Deepika Padukone, called himself her 'designated cheerleader' but also wondered ‘Mera kabhi number aayega kya?’

Ranveer Singh never shies away from expressing his love for his wife Deepika Padukone. From his actions to his words, he uses different ways to show his love and support for his beloved wife. For instance, back in 2022, when Deepika Padukone was selected to be a jury at the Cannes Film Festival, Ranveer Singh called himself her ‘designated cheerleader.’

When Ranveer Singh said he is very proud of Deepika Padukone

While speaking to Film Companion, Ranveer Singh mentioned he is proud of his wife’s achievement. The fact that she was selected to choose the best films from around the world, was a matter of immense joy and great pride. He expressed his contentment in always standing by her side as she achieves one milestone after another.“Cannes I mean, like that’s huge. Baby is deciding from the best films in the world at the time- which is the better one. It’s so crazy. I was like ‘wow, this is just too amazing.’ I am very proud of everything that she achieves,” he said. The ‘Bajirao Mastani’ actor added, “Every time, I am her designated cheerleader. Whether it’s Time magazine, or it’s Cannes, or she does stuff that is just unprecedented for mainstream leading women from Indian cinema. And she’s forging her own path in that sense, and that’s something to be extremely proud of as her partner.” “And I hugely admire her, and I think nobody deserves it more than her because she is just so sincere in everything that she does, and she works so hard, and she deserves every bit of it, and I am extremely proud of her. She makes me glow with pride,” he continued.

When Ranveer Singh wondered when will he get a chance

Ranveer was so happy about Deepika being a part of the Cannes jury that he danced his heart out and said, “People want you (Deepika) to be the person who decides which is the better film.’ That’s huge.” And then, Ranveer being Ranveer, put his funny hat on and joked, “He then joked, “I mean I thought to myself ‘yaar, mera kabhi number aayega kya. Mujhe kabhi bithayenge kya jury-vury pe? Aaj tak kisi ne bulaya nahi hai, kisi jury pe, ki aap decide karo kiska better hai performance (will it ever happen to me? Will they ever make me be part of a jury. No one has ever invited me, on any jury, that you decide whose performance was better).”

Ranveer Singh and Deepika Padukone’s upcoming work

Ranveer Singh’s upcoming December release, ‘Dhurandhar’, has been hogging all the headlines. It is one of 2025’s highly anticipated Bollywood movies. Deepika, on the other hand, after her exit from ‘Kalki 2’ and ‘Spirit,’ will next be seen in ‘King’ with Shah Rukh Khan. Go to Source
