When Madhuri Dixit opened up about feeling shy with Naseeruddin Shah in Dedh Ishqiya: 'His eyes had an intense feeling'

Madhuri Dixit, despite her experience, admitted to feeling shy during intimate scenes with Naseeruddin Shah in ‘Dedh Ishqiya,’ attributing it to his intense gaze. She admired his natural acting style, recalling a moment where his performance even made her forget her lines. Dixit also praised the film’s script and the enjoyable, though challenging, shooting experience.

Even Bollywood divas can feel starstruck. Madhuri Dixit, known for her poise and charm, had once opened up about feeling shy while shooting intense and intimate scenes with legendary actor Naseeruddin Shah in Dedh Ishqiya.

Intense gaze left her feeling shy

At the film’s trailer launch, the actress revealed that while she wasn’t nervous working with the veteran actor, his intense gaze made her feel shy during the more intimate scenes. She praised him as a natural actor, saying she simply had to react while performing. Madhuri added that she was comfortable on set, fully immersed in her character, and enjoyed the experience.Madhuri, a fan of Ishqiya, loved her role as Begum Para in Dedh Ishqiya. She described the tight script full of romance, trust, and betrayal, and recalled shooting in remote, challenging locations. Despite long hours and tough conditions, she said working with the team was fun and rewarding.

Previous collaboration with Shah

She previously worked with Naseeruddin in Rajkumar (1996) and has often praised his acting prowess. In an old interview, she revealed that during their first scene together in Dedh Ishqiya, Shah’s natural performance left her momentarily forgetting her lines. She lauded his versatility, noting the two contrasting shades he portrayed in the film.Directed by Abhishek Chaubey, Dedh Ishqiya is the sequel to Ishqiya, reuniting Naseeruddin Shah and Arshad Warsi, with Huma Qureshi and Vijay Raaz in supporting roles. Despite critical acclaim, the film struggled at the box office.
