When Anushka Sharma admitted getting a 'lip job' for 'Bombay Velvet': 'I’m human and not perfect'

Anushka Sharma made her acting debut in ‘Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi’ in 2008 and quickly became one of Bollywood’s most admired stars. With her talent, charm and outspoken nature, she carved her place as a favourite among audiences. Yet in 2014, she found herself in the spotlight for something other than her films. Her appearance on ‘Koffee With Karan’ left fans talking about her noticeably fuller lips, sparking endless speculation.

Anushka Sharma’s lips sparked chatter

The buzz began when Anushka appeared on filmmaker Karan Johar’s popular chat show ‘Koffee With Karan’. Her fuller lips caught everyone’s attention, sparking endless conversations about whether she had undergone cosmetic treatment. At the time, the ‘Jab Tak Hai Jaan’ actress responded on X by saying that she had “been using a temporary lip enhancing tool” and wanted to “assure everyone” that she had not “gone ‘under the knife’ or done any kind of ‘plastic surgery’ or undergone any intrusive procedure.”

Two years later, in a 2016 interview with Vogue, Anushka decided to address the matter head-on. She openly admitted that she had opted for a ‘lip job’ for her role in ‘Bombay Velvet’.She said, “I have nothing to hide. So when I spoke about my lip job, a lot of people called me brave for coming out. But I did what I had to for my role in Bombay Velvet. I’m not going to lie and say I didn’t; I had to take ownership. I wanted fans to know that I’m human and not perfect.”

Anushka Sharma on the work front
