When Akshay thanked Arshad for ‘Jolly LLB’

When Akshay Kumar thanked Arshad Warsi for 'Jolly LLB': 'He made the way for me and things easy for me...'

Akshay Kumar and Arshad Warsi’s ‘Jolly LLB 3’ has hit the big screens and it has been garnering good reviews. Amid this, let us revisit a moment from 2017 when Akshay expressed deep gratitude towards Arshad, who originally played the iconic lawyer in ‘Jolly LLB’ (2013).

Akshay’s words of respect for Arshad

Talking about stepping into ‘Jolly LLB 2’, Akshay acknowledged the contribution of Arshad, who first brought the role of Jolly to life. He told PTI in an old interview, “I am very grateful to Arshad for showing me the way of doing this film. He made the way for me; he made things easy for me. He made this film very big and I hope that ‘Jolly LLB 2’ also turns out to be a good film.”While Arshad played the lead role in the original film, he was replaced by Akshay in the sequel as the producers seeked for a bigger star than him. Talking about the same, Akshay had revealed, “I did speak to Arshad. He is not a small (actor). He is my good friend. People just blow up things out of proportion.”From Arshad’s success to Akshay’s sequel Arshad’s ‘Jolly LLB’ was a 2013 hit, the film won awards for the courtroom drama. Although he was also expected to reprise the role in the sequel, director Subhash Kapoor instead cast Akshay in 2017’s ‘Jolly LLB 2’, which later was a success story. Despite the switch, Akshay never backed away from crediting Arshad for ‘Jolly LLB’.The courtroom tale promises laughter, drama, and a strong social message. Saurabh Shukla also returns, reprising his much-loved judge role. While advance bookings have been modest, trade analysts believe the film could benefit from positive word-of-mouth. Twitter is also flooded with reviews for the 3rd part. One wrote, “The three part curse has been broken. We finally have the best trilogy.” Another one wrote, “After #KesariChapter2, the best thing to happen to Hindi cinema is #JollyLLB3 in 2025. This gripping courtroom drama tackles the serious issue of land mafia grabbing farmers’ lands and commercializing them, blending strong social awareness with a sharp comic touch. ”
