‘Welcome 3’ earns just Rs 20 lakh amid ‘The Odyssey’ wave

'Welcome To The Jungle' box office collection Day 22: Akshay Kumar starrer crashes on fourth Friday amid 'The Odyssey' wave; earns just Rs 20 lakh

Akshay Kumar’s multi-starrer comedy ‘Welcome To The Jungle’ has witnessed another sharp decline in its earnings at the Indian box office. The film that entered its fourth week in theatres, witnessed a steep decline in collections on Friday, coinciding with the release of Christopher Nolan’s much-awaited epic ‘The Odyssey’, which emerged as the new choice for Indian moviegoers.

‘Welcome To The Jungle’ box office collection Day 22

According to early estimates on sacnilk, ‘Welcome To The Jungle’ earned just Rs 20 lakh net on Day 22, from around 738 shows playing in theatres nationwide. The latest figures take the film’s total India net collection to an estimated Rs 132.05 crore, while its India gross collections stand at an estimated Rs 156.89 crore. As per the report, the fourth Friday haul marks a steep 60 per cent drop from Thursday’s estimated collection of Rs 50 lakh. This drop also comes as the film nears the end of its theatrical run.

‘Welcome To The Jungle’ weekly collections

The film had opened to a promising response, collecting approximately Rs 93 crore during its first week. However, it was unable to sustain the momentum in the weeks that followed. As per the report, the film, in its second week, saw collections drop significantly to around Rs 31.90 crore, while the third week saw collections fall into single digits, contributing just Rs 6.80 crore. Now, with the film beginning its fourth weekend on a low with a collection of just Rs 20 lakh, it remains to be seen if it can keep up the pace for the week ahead.

‘Welcome To The Jungle’ worldwide collections

Despite the slowdown in India, ‘Welcome To The Jungle’ is on its way to the Rs 200 crore mark at the global box office. The film has collected an estimated Rs 33.35 crore gross in international markets, taking its worldwide gross collection to Rs 190.24 crore. It remains to be seen if the movie can add another Rs 10 crore to its collections this week before it gears up for its OTT debut.

‘The Odyssey’ vs ‘Welcome To The Jungle’

The film’s box office slowdown can be linked to the arrival of Christopher Nolan’s ‘The Odyssey’, which was released across India in English, Hindi, Tamil and Telugu. The Hollywood epic made an impressive debut, grossing approximately Rs 20.76 crore and collecting an estimated ₹17.40 crore net on its opening day. Driven by strong occupancy in IMAX and premium formats, the film has dominated premium screens and multiplexes, attracting audiences that might otherwise have opted for domestic releases.Notably, Nolan’s latest film has also outperformed ‘Welcome To The Jungle’s own opening-day box office collections, thus setting it on course to become one of the top-performing Hollywood films in India.
