‘War 2’ box office collection day 3 (LIVE)

'War 2' box office collection day 3 (LIVE): The Hrithik Roshan, Jr NTR, Kiara Advani starrer may see a drop on Saturday due to Janmashtami after crossing Rs 100 crore

‘War 2’ released in theatres on August 14, a day before Independence day and clashed at the box office with ‘Coolie’. While it’s one of the biggest clashes of movies, it’s also a long three-day weekend which may end up in the favour of both the movies. While on the first day, ‘War 2’ was behind ‘Coolie’ as both the movies made Rs 51.5 crore and Rs 65 crore respectively. However, on day 2 which is Independence Day, ‘War 2’ performed better. Despite lukewarm critical reviews and a mixed response from audiences online, the film’s second-day performance has been impressive. According to Sacnilk, the day 2 collection of the film which saw growth due to Independence day, is Rs 56.50 crore. Thus, it has crossed the Rs 100 crore mark within two days in all languages, according to Sacnilk. ‘War 2’ has released in Hindi, Telugu and Tamil. The Telugu version of the film also got a great response due to Jr NTR’s presence but on day 2 there was growth in the Hindi belt. The spike was fueled by stronger occupancies in key metros and robust evening-to-night show numbers. The holiday effect in certain territories, coupled with steady single-screen turnout in mass markets, also played a big role in the Hindi version’s rebound. On day 3, which is Saturday, the film has made Rs 5.18 crore till afternoon. On the first two days, up till afternoon, the collection had already crossed Rs 10 crore each. Thus, it may be expected that the film may drop on Saturday, and that could also be due to Janmashtami being celebrated in most parts of the country. The total collection of the film so far in India now stands at Rs 113.53 crore. Trade sources believe there may not be a massive surge over the weekend, but “if the movie manages to hold collection in the same range with marginal growth, it will give it a chance to perform during the weekdays, which needs to be seen.”Day 1 [1st Thursday] ₹ 52 Cr [Hi: 29 Cr ; Ta: 0.25; Te: 22.75] -Day 2 [1st Friday] ₹ 56.35 Cr [Hi: 44 Cr ; Ta: 0.35; Te: 12] * Day 3 [1st Saturday] ₹ 5.18 Cr ** Total ₹ 113.53 Cr
