Suriya’s upcoming Tamil-Telugu bilingual ‘Vishwanath & Sons’ is one of the most anticipated releases of the month. The romantic drama, directed by Venky Atluri, is scheduled to arrive in theatres worldwide on August 14, 2026.

Suriya’s character details

Ahead of its release, fresh details about the story have surfaced online through the British Board of Film Classification (BBFC).According to the BBFC listing, “In this Tamil-language romantic drama, a former Olympic shooter becomes emotionally entangled with the surrogate mother of his child when the infant falls ill.”

Director promises an entertaining family drama

During the film’s audio launch event, Venky Atluri opened up about directing Suriya, calling it a dream that had finally come true. He also recalled narrating the story to the actor for the first time and spoke about the memorable experience of working on the film.As quoted by CE, he said, “This isn’t just a film for fans. Bring your mother, father and your entire family. You’ll walk out of the theatre with a heart full of happiness.”Venky Atluri also spoke about the film’s duration and assured audiences that they would remain entertained throughout the theatrical experience. The filmmaker said, “I’m not making tall claims. The film is under two hours, and I’m sure you’ll be entertained for at least 100 minutes. Trust me—I was a CBSE student, I never scored full marks.”‘Vishwanath & Sons’ marks the first collaboration between Suriya and filmmaker Venky Atluri. The project stars Mamitha Baiju as the female lead alongside Suriya. Venky Atluri has written and directed the film, while G. V. Prakash Kumar has composed the music.The film blends romance, family emotions and drama, making it a different outing for Suriya after his recent projects like ‘Karuppu’, ‘Retro’.The supporting cast of ‘Vishwanath & Sons’ includes Radikaa Sarathkumar, Raveena Tandon, Nassar, Sudha, Raghu Babu, Sunil Reddy, Bhavani Sri, Viva Harsha, Kaali Venkat and George Maryan.
