Vir Das slams delivery app scam of Rs 50,000, sending fake watch

Vir Das slams delivery app for sending fake watch after charging Rs 50,000: 'Full scam, their customer device agent said...'

Comedian-actor Vir Das recently took to social media to call out a troubling experience he allegedly had with food and grocery delivery platform Zepto. The actor claimed that he was delivered a counterfeit Apple Watch despite paying nearly Rs 50,000 for the product, and alleged that his concerns were initially met with little support from customer service.Sharing his frustration online, Vir explained that the watch had been ordered urgently for a shoot, making the situation even more inconvenient. Posting images of the product he received, he questioned its authenticity and accused the platform of selling what appeared to be a fake device.“Okay. Am I wrong, do all Apple Watches look like this or is @ZeptoNow @zeptocares being shady with China copies? By the way, their customer device agent on the phone said there’s nothing they could do. Full scam. We needed one quick for a shoot. They charged us 50k.” His post quickly gained attention, with several social media users tagging Zepto and demanding clarification from the company.Responding to the growing criticism, Zepto issued a statement saying that the matter was being looked into and that a reverse pickup had already been arranged as part of its investigation process. “We take such concerns seriously and have already scheduled a reverse pickup of the product, which is our standard process in such cases. This will help us investigate the issue with our brand partners. For high-value products, users receive an OTP at the time of delivery. The OTP should only be shared after checking that the package is properly sealed and in good condition.”The company further assured customers that the case was under review. “We are currently looking into this case and will take appropriate action based on our findings,” they further added. On the professional front, Vir Das is gearing up for ‘Happy Patel’, which marks his directorial debut. Produced by Aamir Khan, the spy-comedy reunites Aamir, Vir and Imran Khan after their memorable collaboration in ‘Delhi Belly’. The film also stars Mona Singh, Mithila Palkar, Sharib Hashmi and Shruti Tawade in key supporting roles.
