'Vilayath Buddha' box office collections day 14: Prithviraj Sukumaran's film slips to Rs 4 lakhs

Prithviraj Sukumaran’s ‘Vilayath Buddha’ is facing a box office slump, with collections plummeting to Rs 4 lakhs on its fourteenth day. The film has garnered a worldwide total of Rs 8.63 crore, struggling to impress audiences despite a strong cast. Meanwhile, producer Sandeep Senan filed a police complaint alleging targeted cyberattacks and religious hatred spread through a film review.

‘Vilayath Buddha’, starring Prithviraj Sukumaran, is continuing its downward spiral at the box office. The day 14 numbers showed yet another dip.According to the latest collection reports, the film managed to earn only Rs 4 lakhs on its fourteenth day. The actioner showed no signs of recovery.

Box office figures paint a grim picture

As per industry estimates by the Sacnilk website, ‘Vilayath Buddha’ currently stands at a worldwide total of Rs 8.63 crore, with Rs 5.18 crore India Net, Rs 6.03 crore India Gross, and Rs 2.6 crore overseas earnings. The second week has been particularly tough. Day 11 collection were at Rs 8 lakhs, Day 12 at Rs 6 lakhs, Day 13 at Rs 5 lakhs, and Day 14 slipped to Rs 4 lakhs.Directed by Jayan Nambiar, the film features a strong star lineup including Prithviraj Sukumaran, Suraj Venjaramoodu, Anu Mohan, Shammi Thilakan, Rajashree, and Priyamvada Krishnan. Despite the hype for the movie, it failed to impress the audiences as majority of the reviews turned out to be average to mixed.

Cyberattacks controversy leads to police complaint

Producer Sandeep Senan had filed a police complaint alleging targeted cyberattacks against Vilayath Buddha. The complaint, lodged at the Ernakulam North Police Station, accuses a YouTube channel of spreading “religious and political hatred” in the name of a film review. According to Senan, the reviewer distorted the storyline to create social polarization and fuel coordinated online hostility against the film and its lead actor.
