Vijay’s ‘Jana Nayagan’ makers release legal statement over piracy leak

Thalapathy Vijay’s ‘Jana Nayagan’ makers release legal statement: 'Every person involved shall be individually liable for criminal action'

Scenes from Thalapathy Vijay’s upcoming film ‘Jana Nayagan’ have been leaked online. The makers have issued a strong legal statement. They warn that anyone involved in accessing or sharing the leaked footage will face criminal action. The production house has initiated legal proceedings. The film also faces censorship delays. The ensemble cast includes Pooja Hegde and Bobby Deol.

A major controversy has erupted after scenes from ‘Jana Nayagan,’ the upcoming film starring Vijay, were leaked online. The film, directed by H. Vinoth, is one of the most anticipated projects in Tamil cinema. A few minutes of footage, including the title credits and Vijay’s introduction scene from the unreleased movie, surfaced on social media. Soon after, a full HD version of the film was leaked. This development has shocked both the film’s team and fans, as the movie was made with a massive investment and carries huge theatrical, satellite, and OTT value. ‘Jana Nayagan’ director H Vinoth has shared his concern about the leak, while several film fraternities have also voiced opposition to piracy.

‘Jana Nayagan’ makers issue legal notice warning against piracy

Following the leak, the production house released a strong legal statement through its counsel Vijay Subramanian. The notice stated that certain individuals had illegally accessed and circulated scenes from the film. The statement read, “It has come to my client’s notice with utmost shock and urgency that certain scenes from the film ‘Jana Nayagan’ have been illegally accessed, downloaded, copied, and circulated by certain persons. ” The notice also warned that sharing or forwarding the leaked clips via WhatsApp, Telegram, Instagram, Facebook, X, YouTube, websites, or torrents would lead to a serious criminal offence and copyright violation.

Strict legal action is promised against those sharing leaked clips

The production house further made it clear that strict legal action would be taken against anyone involved in spreading the footage. The notice stated, “Any downloading, forwarding, sharing, uploading, reposting, storing or circulating of such leaked scenes amounts to a serious criminal offence, and every person involved shall be individually liable for criminal action.” It also confirmed that the producers have already begun legal proceedings against the person who allegedly downloaded and forwarded the scenes. At the same time, the public has been urged not to watch or share any leaked content related to the film.

Censor delay adds to challenges for ‘Jana Nayagan’

Apart from the piracy issue, ‘Jana Nayagan’ is also facing delays due to censorship problems. The film was earlier scheduled for release on January 9 but was sent for re-examination after objections from the Central Board of Film Certification regarding certain scenes and dialogues. Even after making the suggested changes, the film is reportedly still under review by the revising committee. H Vinoth’s directorial features a strong ensemble cast including Pooja Hegde, Bobby Deol, Prakash Raj, Gautham Vasudev Menon, Priyamani, Mamitha Baiju, and Narain, with music composed by Anirudh Ravichander.
