Vijay Sethupathi reveals why he made an exception for ‘Jailer 2’ cameo

'Accepted only for Rajinikanth sir': Vijay Sethupathi reveals why he made an exception for 'Jailer 2' cameo

Vijay Sethupathi is in the news again, not for any announcement about a new movie, but for his emotional words on Superstar Rajinikanth. The actor, known for his selective roles and outspoken nature, recently spoke about his experience working in ‘Jailer 2.’ His comments became a hot topic on social media, with fans appreciating the respect and admiration he had for Rajinikanth. The statement has become one of the biggest talking points among Tamil cinema fans, with the buzz around the highly anticipated sequel only growing.

Vijay Sethupathi explains why he made an exception for ‘Jailer 2’

Speaking at a recent event, Vijay Sethupathi explained why he accepted a special appearance in ‘Jailer 2.’ “First of all, I have stopped doing cameo roles in films. ‘Jailer 2’ is the only exception, and that too only because of Superstar Rajinikanth sir. I wanted the opportunity to work with him, so I agreed to do the cameo,” he said, as reported by Filmibeat. He also shared why he avoids such appearances in other films. “If my photo appears on a poster with Rajinikanth sir, nobody notices me because all the attention naturally goes to him. But in other films, cameo actors often get equal or even more importance on posters. That could affect my other films. That’s why I decided not to do cameo roles anymore,” Vijay Sethupathi added.

Actor’s remarks reflect his respect for Rajinikanth

Vijay Sethupathi’s statement has struck a chord with fans because he is not someone who often praises fellow actors without reason. Having previously shared screen space with Rajinikanth in ‘Petta,’ where he played a powerful antagonist, the actor has always spoken highly of the Superstar. His recent comments once again reflect how much he admires Rajinikanth and how much he values working with him. His honesty has won applause from fans, and many feel that his decision to break his own rule for ‘Jailer 2’ is a testament to the unique place Rajinikanth enjoys in Indian cinema.
