Vedan wedding announced: Rapper to marry longtime partner Navami Latha

Malayalam rapper Vedan is set to marry writer Navami Latha on February 24th in Thrissur. The couple, together for years, initially planned a private registered ceremony. However, a public announcement by politician M.V. Govindan at a Kannur event shifted their plans. Vedan, known for his socially conscious lyrics, recently won a State Film Award for his work in ‘Manjummal Boys’.

Malayalam rapper Vedan is set to marry his longtime partner and the wedding is scheduled for February 24 in Thrissur. It will be a simple registered ceremony and the bride, Navami Latha, is a writer from Thrissur. The couple has been in a committed relationship for many years.

Politician announces the wedding at public event

As reported by One India Malayalam, the marriage became public after M. V. Govindan revealed it during a musical event. The announcement happened at the Happiness Fest held in Kannur.Vedan later addressed the crowd and said, “Just as he said, on the 24th I am going for a registered marriage. It’s my wedding.” Vedan who is a native of Kiralur in Thrissur had intended to hold a quiet ceremony. Reportedly the couple had discussed keeping the event intimate with only close family present. However once the announcement was made on stage, their plans shifted. The news began trending on social media with supporters a sending wishes.

Awards and a career on the rise

One of Vedan’s most popular songs, “MAUNA LOA,” was reportedly inspired by Navami Latha and this he had shared in interviews. Vedan received the State Film Award for a track in the film ‘Manjummal Boys’. Vedan first gained attention through his track ‘Voice of Voiceless’. He is today regarded as a representative of oppressed voices in society. His lyrics often focus on the frustrations, pain and silence of marginalised communities. Themes such as caste discrimination and political suppression appear frequently in his work and he earns a huge fan following.Coming to Navami Latha, she is a writer and one of her popular works is the short story named ‘Poompattavetta’ which was published last year. The cover picture for the book was published by the filmmaker Lijo Jose Pellissery and author M Mukundan.
