Times when Deepika Padukone got candid about ‘motherhood’

Times when Deepika Padukone got candid about 'motherhood': 'It felt like a beautiful summary of what she means to us'

Deepika Padukone, the actress who dared to be vulnerable in front of hundreds of cameras and millions of television viewers, celebrated her daughter’s first birthday recently – and the fans profoundly cheered. The 39-year-old has opened up about her maternal journey on several occasions, lending a hand of support to many women. Let’s take a look at the times Deepika Padukone defended, advised, took a sweeping jab at the people, and spoke about motherhood!

Deepika Padukone’s pregnancy

While the actress appears to have figured out her life and routine, she didn’t hesitate to open up about her struggles. As Deepika welcomed her Baby Girl Padukone Singh in early September, the actress once revealed that she faced issues in the third trimester. Claiming that she had a complicated pregnancy, the ‘Chhapaak’ actress also had a difficult delivery, in an interview with Marie Claire.

Why Deepika Padukone and Ranveer Singh chose ‘Dua’?

As aforementioned, Padukone welcomed her daughter in September, but the name ‘Dua’ wasn’t given until November. The reason? The couple, who weren’t in a rush, wanted to hold her in her arms, show her the world, and understand her personality, before giving her a name. “It felt like a beautiful summary of what she means to us and why she means what she means to us,” she said while speaking to the abovementioned news portal, while adding that she had texted Ranveer Singh in the middle of the night while he was on a set, and he responded with a Yes!

Deepika Padukone took a jab at a mean director

Deepika Padukone made quite a few headlines for her policies, which left the entertainment industry divided. Recalling the incident during the aforementioned interview, the 39-year-old said that once a director commented that she was taking her motherhood seriously after she refused to meet him, as she needed to be at home. The actress said, “I don’t know if that was a compliment or a jab. What does that mean, taking motherhood seriously? Yeah!”

Deepika Padukone is trying to find balance

While addressing the audience earlier this year, in March at the Forbes event, Padukone highlighted the mom guilt. She was juggling and figuring out the art of balancing the roles of being a mother and getting back on the acting track in the industry. The thoughts go deeper, to even choosing the films, where her subconscious mind takes the lead in the scripts that have a good influence. When asked about her last search on the engine, the actress said, “Definitely some mommy question like ‘when will my baby stop spitting up’ or something to that effect.”

Deepika Padukone’s mind revolves around Dua

During a conversation at WAVES Summit 2025, Deepika Padukone shared that it’s Dua who takes up her mind. The thoughts changed from ‘me’ to ‘her,’ and the world certainly revolves around her baby girl. The new phase helped give a different perspective and way of life, getting mature and learning how to grow. Meanwhile, Shah Rukh Khan had complimented her that the most meaningful role she ever played was being a real-life mother.

Deepika Padukone and her special cake

The birthday cake on Dua’s birthday was special for two reasons: one, because it was her first-ever birthday cake, and second because it was made by none other than Deepika Padukone. In the caption, she wrote, “My love language? Baking a cake for my daughter’s 1st birthday!” Go to Source
