'Avengers: Doomsday': Chris Evans and Chris Hemsworth to play lead roles; film to mark FINAL outing for X-Men characters

‘Avengers: Doomsday’ held their first test screeinng for a select audience and now details about the film are leaking online. As per the latest buzz, Chris Evans’ Steve Rogers and Chris Hemsworth’s Thor will likely take centre stage in the upcoming Marvel blockbuster, alongside Robert Downey Jr’s Doctor Doom. As per early reports on featurefirst.net, the highly anticipated film, was met with positive reactions from the first screening, with some calling it the ‘best MCU film’ and others saying it was on par with ‘Avengers: Infinity War’. As the film enters further post-production and reshoots, the new reports suggest that the film is expected to serve as a farewell to several legacy X-Men characters. As per the report, it will reportedly serve as a “swan song” for characters from the Fox-era X-Men franchise, offering audiences one final appearance of their favourite mutants within the Marvel Cinematic Universe before a new batch of X-Men are introduced in ‘Avengers: Secret Wars’. ‘Doomsday’ is also touted to focus primarily on the character arcs of Hemsworth and Evans, who will be making their return as Thor and Steve Rogers. Both actors got individual character trailers last year with reports now suggesting that they will take the lead in the new film. While Thor is seen praying to Odin for strength, Rogers will reportedly be fighting to save his son. With CinemaCon 2026 currently underway, rumours of another trailer dropping at the festival has bene doing the rounds online. However, new footage could just be unveiled during the release of the upcoming Star Wars films.’Avengers: Doomsday’ is scheduled to hit theatres on December 18, 2026.
