Linda Hamilton opens up about retirement and working on ‘Stranger Things 5’

In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, the ‘Terminator’ actress opened up about almost giving up on her acting career until she landed her role in ‘Stranger Things 5’, along with some other major acting gigs as well. The 69-year-old actress revealed that she has been thinking about retirement for quite some time, one of the biggest reasons being a bad hip issue, which she had been suffering from since 2023. She revealed that she had been discussing the matter with her manager, who had inspired her to stay a little longer, and just a few months later, she had landed the role of a lifetime in the hit fantasy sci-fi series. She also added that all of a sudden she was shooting for three things in the same year: ‘Resident Alien,’ ‘Trust Me, I’m a Doctor,’ and ‘Stranger Things,’ which took a lot of toll on her. “I’ve hardly ever worked back-to-back. I haven’t worked this much since I started to talk about retirement. Now, I’m working all the time. I don’t have an assistant, and I don’t have a manager, and I don’t have a publicist. I really live my life my way,” she revealed further. She also joked about how she had to go from one place to another for the shoots, adding that “I’m running back and forth to Atlanta, then I hop off to Toronto and chop off my hair and dye it blonde, and then before I come back, we’re dying it dark. My hair had a really tough year.”

How did Linda Hamilton prepare for ‘Stranger Things’

The actress also talked about doing stunt scenes in the OTT series, and delved into how she regularly hit the gym 3 times a week, despite her hip issues. She shared that she wanted to make sure that she was in optimal shape, and as a result, she shared candidly that her character did not limp, thankfully. She also added on, “I’m just older. I’m thinking those might be my last stunt rehearsals — I think I might be done with that. I could actually say I’m done with that and see what happens. But I worked really hard just to stay fit and ready and able.” Go to Source
