They Call Him OG crosses Rs 10 crore mark for premiere shows in USA

Pawan Kalyan’s ‘They Call Him OG’ crosses Rs 10 crore mark for premiere shows in USA

Pawan Kalyan’s They Call Him OG is creating buzz. The film has already earned over Rs 10 crore in the USA through premiere ticket sales. Advance bookings are yet to fully open. The movie will not have an IMAX release. It tells the story of Ojas Gambheera, a Mumbai underworld boss. He returns to reclaim his empire from Omi Bhau.

Pawan Kalyan’s highly anticipated action entertainer They Call Him OG has set the North American box office on fire even before its release. The film, which is slated to premiere in the USA on September 24th, has already recently crossed the Rs 10 crore mark ( USD 1.13 million) for its premiere shows in the United States of America. The film has reached this figure by selling more than 39,000 tickets in over 425 locations. If one takes the entire North America circuit into account the film has minted USD 1.26 million ( Rs 11.10 crore) . In fact advance booking for the film is yet to be opened in one the important multiplex chain, once that starts the numbers are expected to jump exponentially. Unfortunately the film will not be getting an IMAX release as the platform has already committed itself to other films. The response to the film is highly contrasting to Pawan Kumar’s last release Hari Hara Veera Mallu who’s lifetime collection in North America was just a little over USD 1 million. They Call Him OG is the story of Mumbai underworld boss Ojas Gambheera who had vanished for almost a decade. He has resurfaced with the single goal of reclaiming his empire and exact revenge from the current tyrant Omi Bhau played by Emraan Hashmi. Between the two thus ensues a brutal criminal war. The film has been directed by Sujeeth, best known for helming Saaho starring Prabhas. The presence of Bollywood actor Emraan Hashmi as the antagonist has further fuelled anticipation. Hashmi’s powerful role marks his first major outing in South Indian cinema, making the project a true pan-Indian spectacle. With 15 days still left before premieres, trade experts are confident that They Call Him OG will cross the $2 million mark in advance sales well before D-Day, and potentially set new all-time benchmarks for Indian films in North America. Given the current pace, the film is poised for one of the biggest premieres ever for an Indian film overseas.
