Pawan Kalyan’s 'They Call Him OG' beats Akshay Kumar’s 'Housefull 5' to become 8th biggest hit of 2025

Pawan Kalyan’s ‘They Call Him OG’ is a massive hit, crossing ₹184 crore and becoming the 8th biggest film of 2025, surpassing Akshay Kumar’s ‘Housefull 5’. The action flick is also a triumph in North America, marking Pawan Kalyan’s biggest overseas success. The film’s strong performance offers a career boost for director Sujeeth and introduces Emraan Hashmi to Telugu cinema.

After the debacle of Hari Hara Veer Mallu, Pawan Kalyan came back on the big screen with a vengeance with Sujeeth’s They Call Him OG and the film is still going strong in the second week as well. The film minted Rs 169.3 in the first week and in the 4 days of second week the film has added another Rs 14.77, taking the overall collection of the film to Rs 184.07 crore. The film looks primed to cross Rs 200 crore mark by the end of its theatrical run. As the film crossed Rs 184 crore mark, it has now become the 8th biggest hit of 2025 by surpassing Akshay Kumar’s Housefull 5 which had earned Rs 183.38 crore from its lifetime theatrical run. This year has been a year of resurgence for Akshay as after a long drought since the end of Pandemic, Akshay is finally seeing some success with films like Sky Force, Kesari 2, Housefull 5 and Jolly LLB 3. They Call Him OG has been churning out big numbers not only in India but also in North America where total collection of the film has crossed USD 5.5 million and it is expected to have a run of at least USD 5.75 million. It has already become Pawan Kalyan’s most success film in the circuit. They Call Him OG also marked the Telugu debut of Emraan Hashmi as Omi, he was the lead antagonist of the film. The makers are also hopeful for the second instalment of the film which they have announced in the climax of the first part. They film also gives Sujeeth a new lease of life who had taken a break from films post the release of Saaho- Prabhas’s first film after the supper success of Baahubali series.
