The Taj Story earns just Rs 17 lakhs on Tuesday

Paresh Rawal’s ‘The Taj Story’ earns just Rs 17 lakhs on Tuesday

Paresh Rawal’s ‘The Taj Story’ faces a significant box office dip in its second week, with collections plummeting on Tuesday despite usual discount days. After a strong weekend, the film’s weekday performance has faltered, raising doubts about its theatrical run. Despite this, the movie has already achieved profitability for its makers.

Paresh Rawal’s controversial film The Taj Story’s steady run seems to have come to an end as the film entered the 2nd week. The film performed strongly in the weekend but as the weekdays started the film has been on a downward spiral. Usually on Tuesdays when cinema halls give discounts on tickets, the films are expected to showcase a jump but The Taj Story’s collection dipped even further from Monday’s collection. On Monday as per Sacilk, the film was able to earn just Rs 40 lakh after a Sunday collection of Rs 2.15 crore. But on Tuesday the film collected just Rs 17 lakh, taking the overall collection of the film to Rs 16.37 crore. The film will need a serious change of luck to cross the Rs 20 crore mark before its OTT release. The film which released on October 31st opened to a mere Rs 1 crore collection, but as word of mouth publicity spread the film saw a 100 % jump on Saturday to mint Rs 2 crore on day 2 and Rs 2.75 crore on day 3. The film ended its week 1 collection with Rs 11 crore after facing competition from films like Ayushmann Khurrana- Rashmika Mandanna’s Thamma, Harshvardhan Rane and Sonam Bajwa’s Ek Deewane ke Deewaniyat and Prabhas’s Baahubali- The Epic. The film revolves around a court case filed by Paresh Rawal’s character questioning the authenticity and truth of Taj Mahal, he plays a guide in the film. The film was supposed to have strong legs at the box office but with this sudden Tuesday drop has impacted the longevity at box office is now under doubt. As per Paresh Rawal the film has been made on a budget of Rs 7-8 crore, the film has already turned a profit for the makers. The Taj Story marks another win at the box office for Paresh Rawal as his other release Thamma has also been doing good business at the ticket window. But both the films will be facing stiff competition Friday onwards with the release of De De Pyaar De 2 with Ajay Devgn, Rakul Preet Singh, R Madhavan and Meezaan Jaafri
