Amidst the vibrant backdrop of Berlin, Star Wars luminaries Pedro Pascal and Sigourney Weaver, accompanied by the visionary Jon Favreau, joined forces to commemorate ‘The Mandalorian and Grogu.’ Attendees were thrilled with a sneak peek of the film, which is poised for a cinematic debut on May 22, 2026.

Pedro Pascal, Sigourney Weaver, and Jon Favreau brought ‘Star Wars: The Mandalorian and Grogu’ to Berlin for a special fan event at UCI Luxe Cinemas, where over 1,000 fans watched exclusive footage from the upcoming film. The trio also posed with fans by the Spree River after the screening. The Lucasfilm adventure opens only in theaters and IMAX on May 22, 2026, with an English and Hindi release planned in India. The Berlin event also included a press conference, where Pascal, Weaver, and Favreau spoke about their earliest memories of ‘Star Wars.’ According to Lucasfilm details shared for the event, the film stars Pedro Pascal as Din Djarin and introduces Sigourney Weaver to the franchise. Jon Favreau directs and writes the film with Dave Filoni and Noah Kloor.

‘Star Wars: The Mandalorian and Grogu’ cast recalls first memories

Favreau said he was 10 or 11 when he watched the original film with his father in New York. “I went with my dad in New York,” he recalled. “I still remember when that giant spaceship appeared, the blockade runner goes by, then the (Star) Destroyer kept going and going. The theatre went from a gasp to laughter to cheering, and it didn’t stop.”He added, “George Lucas, being the cinephile he is, layered in so many references that I didn’t even understand at the time. The film opened me up to not just Star Wars but to cinema in general. At first, I love it as a spectacle, and as I grew older, I love the storytelling and the humanity.” Weaver said she watched the 1977 film at the Ziegfeld in New York City. “We hadn’t seen anything like it, it really took you to another galaxy, another universe. It had heart, it had humour,” she said.

Weaver also praised the world of ‘Star Wars’ for its mix of species. “But what I loved most was that there were so many different species, and for the most part, they were all getting along. There was the evil empire, but otherwise, no matter what you looked like, you had a home in Star Wars. I loved that about it.”Pascal said the films shaped his childhood. “I was born in ’75, so my entire childhood is shaped by those first movies,” he said. “I saw the first Star Wars before Empire Strikes Back and then Return of the Jedi, my personal favourite.”The film is set after the fall of the Empire, as the New Republic turns to Din Djarin and Grogu for help against scattered Imperial warlords. Ludwig Göransson composes the music, while Jon Favreau, Kathleen Kennedy, Dave Filoni, and Ian Bryce produce. Go to Source
