In a dramatic turn of events, Rashmika Mandanna’s latest film ‘The Girlfriend’ is on the verge of breaking new records, as it inches closer to smashing its North American breakeven target within just a week of release. Celebrated for its honest reflection on the intricacies of love, the film has already amassed an impressive USD 375,000.

Rashmika Mandanna led and Rahul Ravindran directed The Girlfriend has built such a strong momentum at the box office that the film is all set to go past its breakeven point in North America within first week itself. The Girlfriend’ tells the story of Bhooma (Rashmika Mandanna), a woman navigating the complexities of love and autonomy in a relationship that slowly turns toxic. The film is getting a lot of praise for exploring all phases of love and making sure it is relatable to everyone. According to ETimes, “Rashmika beautifully captures the subtle emotional shifts, grounding Bhooma’s complex journey with nuance and conviction.”As per its distributors in North America, the film by the end of first weekend has grossed USD 375,000 and as per reports the film’s breakeven point has been pegged at USD 400,000.With just USD 25,000 more needed, the film is all set to be a profit making venture from the fourth day itself.

In India also the film has had a good weekend run where it opened to a dull Rs 1.3 crore start but on day 2 thanks to strong word of mouth the film jumped by over 95 % to collect Rs 2.55 crore. On day 3 the film collected Rs 3.1 crore witnessing an over 20 % jump, thereby taking the weekend collection to Rs 6.90 crore. With The Girlfriend, Rashmika continues her dream run as an actress with films like Ayushmann Khurrana starrer Thamma, Dhanush led Kuberaa and Vicky Kaushal headlined Chhaava. She would be next seen in Cocktail 2 with Shahid Kapoor and Kriti Sanon. She also has Rawindra Pulle’s Mysaa in the pipeline and its first look has generated a lot of buzz. Rumour mills are abuzz that she and Vijay Deverakonda are engaged and are set to get married in Udaipur.
