Thamma emerges as the top grosser on Friday

Ayushmann Khurrana’s ‘Thamma’ emerges as the top grosser on Friday with Rs 9.55 Crore

Ayushmann Khurrana’s ‘Thamma’ has ignited the box office, amassing an impressive Rs 9.55 crore on its opening Friday. Thanks to glowing reviews and audience buzz, it has outperformed rivals like ‘Ek Deewane Ki Deewaniyat’ during the busy Diwali period. This milestone cements Khurrana’s status as a box office powerhouse, with ‘Thamma’ expected to dominate the weekend’s ticket sales.

Ayushmann Khurrana’s latest release Thamma took a commanding lead at the box office on Friday, recording a strong Rs 9.55 crore collection and comfortably outpacing all other new and ongoing releases. The film which released on Diwali continued to draw audiences despite Diwali vacation coming to an end and people setting back in their daily routine. The film would mark Ayushmann’s second back to back success, his last film Dream Girl 2 had minted over Rs 100 crore at the box office.

Directed by Aditya Sarpotdar, Thamma has benefited from positive word-of-mouth and decent footfalls despite people being busy with their Diwali rituals and celebrations with family and friends.

Ayushmann & Rashmika’s ‘Thamma’ Becomes India’s Most Expensive Horror-Comedy Ever

Trailing behind by a notable margin was Harshhvardhan Rane and Sonam Bajwa’s intense love story Ek Deewane Ki Deewaniyat, which earned Rs 5.5 crore on Friday. Despite opening to mixed reviews, the romantic drama managed to attract younger audiences . The film’s theme about a jilted lover found many takers and is expected to sustain the momentum through the next two days of the weekend.

Meanwhile, Rishab Shetty’s Kantara 2 which is now in its fourth weekend also had to face a massive drop as it earned just Rs 3.06 crore.

Among smaller releases, Chaniya Choli, the Gujarati film, held its ground with Rs 93 lakh on its first Friday- taking its overall collection to Rs 4.78 crore. The Gujarati cinema has been churning out many successful films with Chaniya Chole joining the ranks with Vash Level 2, Vash, Chello Divas, Bey Yaar and many more.
Pradeep Ranganathan’s Dude which had already minted Rs 56.5 crore in its first week crashed to Rs 74 lakh on second Friday, dimming all hopes of the film crossing even Love Today’s collection. K Ramp featuring Kiran Abbavaram has been on a downward slope since its release- the film just managed to earn Rs 59 lakh on its second Friday. Dhruv Gautam’s sports actioner Bison, though getting a lot of praise and many critics calling it the best sports film in a while earned just Rs 48 lakh, taking the overall collection of the film to Rs 27.73 crore.
Overall, Thamma’s strong performance has given a much-needed boost to the Hindi box office this weekend. With positive audience feedback Ayushmann Khurrana’s film seems poised to dominate the weekend.
