Swara REACTS to backlash over sexuality remarks

Swara Bhasker REACTS to social media backlash over sexuality and identity remarks; updates her X bio to 'Girl crush advocate'

Swara Bhasker found herself at the centre of social media backlash after her statement on human sexuality, where she suggested that “all humans are fundamentally bisexual” and revealed her admiration for politician Dimple Yadav. The ‘Raanjhanaa’ actress has now reacted to this on social media.

Swara responds through Twitter bio update

On Friday morning, Swara addressed the backlash on X, formerly known as Twitter. She wrote, “Thought it’s time to change the bio (giggling emoji).” Her updated bio now reads, “Girl crush advocate. Part time actor, full time Twitter pest. Chaos Queen. Shopping my way through the apocalypse. Free Palestine.”The addition of “Girl crush advocate” directly references the social media chatter following her confession about MP Dimple Yadav, who is also the wife of politician Akhilesh Yadav.

What did Swara Bhasker say?

During an interview with Screen five months ago, Bhasker spoke about her views on sexuality while accompanied by her husband, politician Fahad Ahmad. “We are all bisexual. If you leave people to themselves, we are actually bisexuals, but heterosexuality is an ideology that has been (put in us) culturally for thousands of years. Because that is how the human race will perpetuate, so it has to be the norm,” Swara said.

Revealed admiration for politician Dimple Yadav

In the interview, when asked about who she had a crush on, Swara mentioned Lok Sabha MP Dimple Yadav. She also said she had met Dimple recently. Her openness about this sparked a wave of reactions, both surprised and supportive, across social media platforms.

About Swara and Fahad

Swara and Fahad registered their marriage under the Special Marriage Act on 6 January 2023 and publicly announced it with a video on 16 February 2023. The couple welcomed their first child, daughter Raabiyaa, in September 2023.

Swara Bhaskar’s recent projects

Swara and Fahad are currently seen on the reality show ‘Pati Patni Aur Panga – Jodiyon Ka Reality Check’. Hosted by Munawar Faruqui and Sonali Bendre, the show features celebrity couples whose relationships are tested in fun and challenging ways.
