Sunny Deol and Ameesha Patel REUNITE to mark 25 Years of 'Gadar: Ek Prem Katha'; director Anil Sharma teases 'Gadar 3' will be a 'nuclear bomb'

The team behind the blockbuster ‘Gadar: Ek Prem Katha’ came together on Monday night, to mark the film’s 25th anniversary of its release.The film’s lead stars Sunny Deol and Ameesha Patel, along with director Anil Sharma, attended the milestone celebration and reflected on the enduring legacy of the film, which remains one of the most successful and beloved titles in Hindi cinema.For the bash, Sunny arrived in a shirt and jeans while Ameesha opted for a golden lehenga. The lead stars posed together for photos and were also joined by their team for a few pics. To celebrate the milestone, Sunny Deol cut a customised chocolate cake as the Gadar team cheered him on.During an interaction with the media on the sidelines of the event, ‘Gadar’ director Anil Sharma was asked about the possibility of a third instalment in the franchise following the massive success of ‘Gadar 2’. While confirming that discussions about a new chapter continue, the filmmaker said, “The 1st part was a bomb, the 2nd part was an atom bomb, the 3rd part will be a nuclear bomb. The day I get that nuclear bomb, I’ll ask these people to detonate.”.

In an interview, the director revealed that while he is currently working on the film’s script, he is looking forward to beginning the shoot in 2027.

Set against the backdrop of the Partition of India in 1947, ‘Gadar: Ek Prem Katha’ followed the story of Tara Singh, a Sikh truck driver played by Sunny Deol, who falls in love with and marries Sakina, portrayed by Ameesha Patel. Their lives are thrown into turmoil when Sakina is taken back to Pakistan by her family, prompting Tara’s perilous journey across the border to reunite with his wife.Apart from its memorable performances, ‘Gadar’ was also remembered for its chart-topping soundtrack composed by Uttam Singh.Meanwhile, the ‘Gadar’ sequel which was released in 2023, reunited Sunny Deol with Ameesha Patel and Utkarsh Sharma, who reprised their roles from the original film. The film went on to become the highest-earning film of the year.
