Suniel weighs in on tariff wars; calls for balance over anger

Suniel Shetty weighs in on tariff wars; calls for balance over anger - 'India has never been about shortcuts'

Actor and entrepreneur Suniel Shetty has once again shown that his voice extends far beyond cinema. Taking to LinkedIn, he reflected on the current tariff wars between India and China, using lessons from his own life to drive home a bigger point. “I’m not a trade policy expert. Nor do I understand everything about geopolitics. But I understand balance,” he began. Drawing from his martial arts background, Shetty explained, “I know what it means to take a punch … and still think about the next 10 moves, not just your reaction to the punch you took.”

‘India has never been about shortcuts – Says Suniel’

Shetty went deeper into what he believes India should focus on in the midst of these global shifts. “India has never been about shortcuts. We’ve often taken the longer, harder route. It’s slower, but it builds strength and capability from within,” he wrote. According to him, the way forward lies in boosting local manufacturing, creating stronger supply chains, and giving businesses easier access to funding. “If we want to continue being taken seriously in this rapidly evolving world, including this global trade game, I guess we can’t just raise our voices. We need to raise our capabilities.” His statement echoed both realism and optimism, urging industry and policy to think long-term.

Suniel Shetty’s mantra – Not noise..not fear..’

At the heart of Shetty’s post was a lesson in negotiation. “At its core, this is a test of leverage. Who has the market the other side can’t do without? Who can absorb short term pain for long term gain?” he questioned. For him, it’s not just about tariffs or short-term countermeasures but about building systems that endure. “Tariffs could come and go. However, international relations will keep evolving, and always be defined by individual agendas. That’s just how the world works.” Closing his thoughts, Shetty offered a crisp mantra: “Not noise. Not fear. Not overconfidence. Just patience, leverage and discipline.”

Suniel Shetty’s work front

Suniel Shetty is all set to reprise his role in the much-awaited comedy ‘Hera Pheri 3’, reuniting with Akshay Kumar and Paresh Rawal. The third installment of the iconic franchise faced delays due to creative differences, but Suniel played a key role in bringing the original trio back together. Fans can expect the classic chemistry between Raju, Baburao, and Shyam, with the film scheduled for release in 2025.
