Suniel Shetty praises Jemimah Rodrigues’ decision to withdraw from WBBL amid Smriti Mandhana and Palash Muchhal’s wedding postponement

Palash Muchhal and Smriti Mandhana’s wedding was set for 23 November 2025 in Sangli, but it has been postponed indefinitely after Smriti’s father, Srinivas Mandhana, fell ill. The sudden hospitalisation led to the ceremony being delayed, leaving fans and well‑wishers curious about the couple’s next steps.Amid the wedding drama, Smriti’s close friend and teammate, Jemimah Rodrigues, made a heartfelt decision. She withdrew from the remainder of the Women’s Big Bash League (WBBL) season to stay in India and support the vice‑captain of the Indian women’s cricket team.

Bollywood actor Suniel Shetty praised Rodrigues for her decision. Sharing a newspaper snippet on X (formerly Twitter), he wrote, “Bumped into this article first thing in the morning and my heart felt full. Jemimah leaving the WBBL to be by Smriti’s side. Jemimah Rodrigues chose to stay with Smriti Mandhana after wedding postponement

Jemimah Rodrigues had flown to India 10 days earlier after Brisbane Heat’s match against Hobart Hurricanes for a brief pre‑arranged visit. She was supposed to rejoin her WBBL team this week. However, after the wedding was postponed, she requested a release from the franchise. The Brisbane Heat issued a statement, “The Brisbane Heat have agreed to a request to release Jemimah Rodrigues from the remainder of the Women’s Big Bash League.”The statement added that Rodrigues had “returned home to India” for Mandhana’s wedding but stayed back after the event was “subsequently postponed due to a health issue with Mandhana’s father.” The franchise also confirmed their support, “Rodrigues will stay in India to support her teammate, and the Heat has agreed to her not returning for the final four games of the WBBL season.”

Palash Muchhal and Smriti Mandhana’s wedding update

Amidst rumours and speculation, Palash Muchhal’s mother, Amita Muchhal, gave a reassuring update on the wedding. She told Hindustan Times, “Smriti and Palash dono takleef mein hain (Smriti and Palash are both going through a difficult time)… Palash dreamt of coming home with his bride.
