Soni Razdan admits she’s a ‘worried mom’ to Alia and Shaheen

Soni Razdan admits she's a 'worried mom' to Alia Bhatt and Shaheen Bhatt: 'I'll message them in the middle of the night'

Soni Razdan has opened up about her parenting style and admitted that despite consciously trying to give her daughters space, she still worries about them and often finds herself checking in on them at odd hours.Speaking to Just Too Filmy about her role as a mother in her latest project Brown, Soni was asked whether she was essentially playing herself on screen and if she was just as quirky with daughters Alia Bhatt and Shaheen Bhatt in real life.

‘Ask them and they’ll probably say yes’

Responding with humour, Soni said, “I think you have to ask them and they will say yes. But if you ask me, I will say no.”Laughing, she added, “I say that I am very normal, very sweet, very calm and all that. But actually, I don’t think I am, if I’m honest.”The actor acknowledged that motherhood often makes it difficult to completely step back, no matter how hard one tries.

‘I try to give my kids space, but I’m still a mom’

Soni revealed that she consciously tries to avoid interfering in her daughters’ lives but admits that parental concern often takes over.”You just can’t help it. If you are a mom, you try very hard to disengage and to give your kids space. I try that. I think I am very mindful of that.” However, she confessed that the boundaries often blur.”But I am still a mom and then somewhere those lines get blurred. I worry. I will wake up in the middle of the night and worry about them.”

Midnight messages and parenting advice

Soni shared that her concern frequently leads to late-night messages to her daughters.”I will message them in the middle of the night, saying you should do this or you should do that.”She also admitted to having a habit of forwarding articles, health-related information and social media posts that she believes could be useful.”Any post I see for children or about some disease or about something, I will send it to them.”The actor revealed that she is now trying to exercise some restraint.”So now I am trying to control it also. I have saved so many posts on Instagram to send in the future, so I don’t pile it on.”

‘I think moms have a problem’

While reflecting on her behaviour, Soni joked that many mothers would probably relate.”I do this a lot because I think it’s normal. I know a lot of mothers don’t hold back the way I do. But yeah, I think moms have a problem.”Drawing parallels with the character she plays on screen, Soni said that a mother’s concern is often rooted in love.”She’s after her daughter, but I think it’s for a very good reason because my daughter doesn’t eat food. So which mother wouldn’t be after her daughter?” Go to Source
