Sombr opens up about love life, fame, and privacy

Sombr says he’s ‘still very single’ as he opens up about love life, fame, and privacy

At just 20 years old, Grammy-nominated artist Sombr opened up about his chart-topping track ‘Homewrecker,’ inspired by the complexities of a former relationship. He candidly admitted feeling that he had so much more to give than his ex’s new partner.

Grammy-nominated singer Sombr is opening up about his life. In a new interview, the ‘Back to Friends’ singer offered insight into his relationship status, revealing that his most recent hit ‘Homewrecker’ is inspired by real-life events of his love life.

Sombr shares his relationship status: Very single

In an interview with Nylon, the 20-year-old pop star offered insight into his dating world. “I’m still a man that feels emotions. I’m still very single. And I still deal with some issues that have to do with love,” he said.

Sombr’s latest hit, ‘Homewrecker,’ comes from real-life ties with an ex

As for his most recent hit ‘Homewrecker,’ the singer revealed that the story behind the song involves reconnecting with an ex who’s since moved on, knowing full well he could be a better partner to her than her new man. “I was like, ‘Bro, I can be so much better than this fool,’” he said, adding that the subject is “pissed” about the song. “He’s mad,” Sombr added. “Hopefully, he doesn’t come kill me.”

Sombr reflects on privacy concerns as a celebrity

Sombr added that with his newfound celebrity status, he has “to accept that I don’t have privacy, which is not something I’ll ever complain about because this is what I wanted.” The singer says he always has to act like he’s being watched, and that’s because it’s actually happening.

Sombr’s rise to fame

While speaking to People, Sombr revealed that he dropped out of high school when he was 17 to pursue music full-time. The decision paid off indeed! It’s been a transformative year for the Sombr, real name Shane Boose, who released his debut studio album ‘I Barely Know Her in August,’ and was nominated for Best New Artist at the 2026 Grammy Awards in February.
