Soha Ali Khan reveals quitting her job after getting a film offer

In an interview with Mashable India, Soha was asked if Rani Mukerji replaced her in the film that was supposed to be her debut. The actress quickly admitted, “She did.” The film in question, was the Shah Rukh Khan-starrer ‘Paheli’, directed by Amol Palekar.The actress shared that not only was the movie supposed to mark her debut, but even revealed that she quit her bank job to play the leading lady in the movie.Soha further stated that Amol Palekar was a ‘credible and renowned’ filmmaker and she agreed to the movie because she liked the story. She said, “He approached me, and I said, ‘I definitely want to do this.’ He said, ‘Then you will have to quit your job because it will take a couple of months’.”Soha stated that on the director’s advice, she even quit her job soon after. The actress also revealed that the director wanted to launch a new male lead in the film. However, even though they read the script together, she had not signed the movie. She revealed that at that time, she was not aware that actors had no guarantees about their casting untill they had signed the film and begun shooting.

When Shah Rukh Khan came on board

In the same interview, Soha revealed that later, Shah Rukh Khan came on board as a producer as well as an actor for the film. She recalled Amol calling her and informing her that SRK will be playing the male lead. To which Soha replied, “I said, ‘Wow, that’s amazing.’ He said, ‘No, you don’t understand. That means you are not playing this role. Somebody else will be playing this.’”With that, she was ousted from the film and was left wondering about how she would pay the rent for her apartment in Mumbai. Go to Source
