Soha opens up on her relationship with Saif and Kareena

Soha Ali Khan says she rarely lived with Saif Ali Khan growing up: 'It took time to build trust with Kareena Kapoor Khan'

Soha Ali Khan, who often shares anecdotes from her personal life, recently offered a rare glimpse into her relationship with her elder brother Saif Ali Khan and sister-in-law Kareena Kapoor Khan. Speaking to The Quint, the actress-author reflected on how her dynamic with Saif has evolved over the years and why her bond with Kareena took time to grow into an independent and genuine connection.

On growing up with Saif Ali Khan

Soha said, “We were hardly under the same roof growing up, because there’s a nine-year difference between us. And by the time I was born, he was pretty much on his way to boarding school in England. And then by the time he came back, I was off doing this, that, and the other. And then he moved to Mumbai. And I was in England, or university. So we never really stayed in the same house. As a result of that, our relationship was, of course, we were siblings. But I don’t think that we could really sit and have a conversation about anything.”Things, however, have changed with time. “Now, it’s completely different. Ever since moving to the city, and I had lived with him for some time when I first moved here, and then quickly moved out and got my own place. But we connect on many levels. And sometimes you don’t connect. He’s a very different person to I am. But we have lots in common, lots of things that perhaps you feel other people may not get. That’s what siblings do, right? We have shared trauma, shared experiences, shared parents, all of that. And of course, when you’re five, and you’re 14, and when you’re 35, and you’re 44, my math is very bad. Now, when you’re like 46 and 55, then the age gap seems less and less,” she added.

On building a relationship with Kareena Kapoor Khan

Soha said, “I feel that Kareena is an incredibly genuine person. One of the things that matters most to her is family. She is a very hands-on parent, wife, daughter, sister, and so many other things. We have known each other for many years, but it has taken time, as I think any genuine relationship does. Sometimes you hit it off in the beginning, but I think especially when it’s a relationship like this of through marriage. I feel like sometimes it takes time to build trust and to get to know someone and to have an independent relationship with them outside of, you know, your husband. So I feel like that has happened. It took some time to happen, but I think that that has happened such that I feel like we have an independent relationship and there are many things that we connect over. For example, you know, I think being really good daughters.” Go to Source
