While many longtime fans celebrated the return of the franchise after nearly two decades, reactions to the trailer have been mixed across social media. Some viewers praised the teaser’s blend of nostalgia and humour, expressing excitement about seeing the original cast return. Others, however, were less convinced. A section of fans questioned the updated animation style and character designs, with some arguing that the visuals looked noticeably different from earlier films. Many even shared then and now images of the characters in the first film and their new updated looks in the new film.”Is it just me or Shrek is not Shreking really,” asked a fan, while another said, “THIS IS THE SHREK WE KNOW AND LOVE NOT WHATEVER SHREK 5 LOOKS LIKE.””This look so ai generated what the hell were they thinking,” asked another. Several viewers also expressed concern that the new instalment appeared to lean heavily on internet humour and jokes rather than the fairytale satire that made the original films popular.
