Shilpa Shetty's Bandra restaurant to shut down amid Rs 60 crore fraud case: 'This Thursday marks the end of an era’

Bollywood actress Shilpa Shetty and husband Raj Kundra are currently embroiled in a controversy, as they have been accused of defrauding over Rs 60 crore in a loan-cum-investment deal between 2015 and 2023. Amid this ongoing row, Shilpa Shetty has taken to her social media handle to announce that her Mumbai restaurant Bastian Bandra is now shutting down. Though she didn’t mention the reason behind closing down the restaurant, the actress penned an emotional note informing that Thursday will be marked as its final working day. “This Thursday marks the end of an era as we bid farewell to one of Mumbai’s most iconic destinations – BASTIAN BANDRA. A venue that gave us countless memories, unforgettable nights, and moments that shaped the city’s nightlife now takes its final bow,” wrote the actress on her social media handle.She continued, “To honour this legendary space, we’re curating a very special evening for our closest patrons – a night filled with nostalgia, energy, and magic, celebrating everything Bastian has stood for one last time. While we say goodbye to BASTIAN BANDRA, our Thursday night ritual Arcane Affair will continue next week at BASTIAN AT THE TOP, carrying forward the legacy in a brand-new chapter with brand new experiences”.

About Shilpa Shetty’s restaurant

Co-owned by actress Shilpa Shetty and restaurateur Ranjit Bindra, this facility was first opened in 2016. Thereafter, in 2023, it was relocated and reopened in Bandra. In addition to its food, the place is appreciated for its artistic decor.

About the case against Shilpa Shetty and Raj Kundra

According to an IANS report, Mumbai businessman Deepak Kothari filed a fraud case associated with the now-defunct company Best Deal TV Pvt Ltd, against the celebrity couple. He claims that the couple defrauded him of more than Rs 60 crore in a loan and investment scheme between 2015 and 2023.Further, a police source mentioned that Deepak, director of Lotus Capital Financial Services, alleged that the money he gave for business growth was misappropriated and used for personal expenses.As Shilp and Raj got booked in the cheating case, their advocate, Prashant Patil, issued a statement to the aforementioned agency and called the allegations “baseless.””My clients have been informed by certain segments of electronic and print media that an alleged case has been registered against them at the Economic Offences Wing, Mumbai. At the outset, my clients deny all the allegations, which are purely civil in nature and have already been adjudicated by the NCLT Mumbai on 04/10/2024,” he confirmed in his statement. Go to Source
