'Shararat' singer and lyricist Jasmine Sandlas opens up about 'Dhurandhar' track; says, 'It needed to be a sultry song' - Exclusive

Singer Jasmine Sandlas revealed the creative process behind ‘Shararat,’ a popular wedding song from the film ‘Dhurandhar.’ She shared director Aditya Dhar’s vision for a sultry dance track with innocent lyrics. Sandlas detailed the extensive rewriting sessions with composer Shashwat Sachdev to achieve the final version, highlighting the collaborative effort involved in crafting the song.

Every element in ‘Dhurandhar’ has received appreciation and love from all quarters—from the performances of the actors, cinematography, songs, character designs, and more. One of the songs that garnered love was ‘Shararat’, which features in the movie during the wedding of Ranveer Singh and Sara Arjun’s characters. The song has been crooned by Madhubanti Bagchi and Jasmine Sandlas. The latter has also penned the lyrics of the track. And recently, Jasmine opened up about what she was briefed about the song.

Jasmine Sandlas talks about ‘Shararat’ song from ‘Dhurandhar’

In conversation with ETimes, Jasmine Sandlas shared, “Aditya Dhar gave me a brief that the song was going to be performed in a wedding scene in ‘Dhurandhar’. It needed to be a sultry dance song with innocent lyrics. It was a month-long session with composer Shashwat to write songs for ‘Dhurandhar’.”Jasmine further stated that a lot of changes were made in the song multiple times. She said, “‘Shararat’ was written and rewritten many times, and then we all agreed on the version that the world is listening to.”

The music of the film has been composed by Shashwat Sachdev, while ‘Shararat’ has been crooned by Madhubanti Bagchi and Jasmine Sandlas. The lyrics of the track were penned by Jasmine Sandlas and Shashwat Sachdev, while it was choreographed by Vijay Ganguly. The song featured Ayesha Khan and Krystle D’Souza.
