Shanthi Priya remembers her first meeting with Anurag Kashyap

'He was seeing the monitor...': Shanthi Priya remembers her first meeting with filmmaker Anurag Kashyap, joining cast of Bad Girl

Shanthi Priya recently recalled Anurag Kashyap’s unexpected involvement in ‘Bad Girl’ and their initial interaction. Co-star Anjali Sivaraman lauded working with the acclaimed director as a “dream come true.” Sivaraman also revealed a unique industry challenge: frequently losing roles because her striking looks were deemed “too attractive” for secondary characters, overshadowing leads, a recurring issue in her career.

Shanthi Priya recently remembered her first meeting with filmmaker Anurag Kashyap. She also spoke about how unexpectedly he became involved with ‘Bad Girl’.

Shanthi Priya on Anurag Kashyap

In conversation with Bollywood Bubble, the actress shared, “First day when he came on set, he was seeing the monitor and we talked, I thanked him for giving me this opportunity. That was the only chat we had. I never interacted with Anurag Kashyap sir but only after the first schedule I come to know that he is showing interest and will come on board.”

Co-star Anjali Sivaraman shares her experience

Her co-star and lead actress Anjali Sivaraman also shared her experience of working with the ace director. “It was a surreal experience, he is a powerhouse in the film industry, people who are highly respected and to see value in our movie, it felt like we were doing something right. With AK sir, he is someone who I have admired and wanted to work with for so many years. For me it was like a dream come true. It was a great feeling that he was so enthugastic and excited about the film,’she added.

Being “too attractive” can be a challenge

In the same interview, Anjali also revealed that she lost several projects because of her good looks. She said, “I hate sounding arrogant in these part but then it just a fact. I haven’t got certain roles because they were secondary character and I was more attractive than the lead so I didn’t end up getting work. This has happened few time where I have not got the work for that particular reason.”She said this wasn’t just a one-time incident but something that has happened many times in her career. While beauty is usually seen as an advantage in the entertainment industry, Anjali’s story shows the other side — where being “too attractive” can sometimes become a problem.
