Priyanka Chopra Hindi voice in ‘The Bluff’

In an exclusive interview with The Hollywood Reporter India, Gupta said she did not treat the assignment as a routine dubbing job. “It was important for me to not imitate Priyanka Chopra, but to understand her rhythm,” she said. “I had to find a balance between staying true to her performance and making it feel organic in Hindi.”She described the process as intense. “Voice work is far more technical than people think,” she said. “Every breath, every pause matters.” Gupta explained that she studied Chopra’s expressions closely so the Hindi version would carry the same emotional weight. At the same time, she made sure the performance felt natural to Indian audiences. “The idea was not to sound like a copy,” she said. “It had to feel real.”

Sayani Gupta on dubbing process and performance pressure

Gupta admitted that the pressure was real. “When you are voicing someone as iconic as Priyanka Chopra, you cannot take it lightly,” she said. She approached the work with focus and discipline. She also shared that the experience changed how she views voice acting. “I have a new respect for dubbing artists,” she said. “It is a craft of its own.”‘The Bluff’ marks another international step for Chopra, while Gupta brings her own credibility as a performer known for layered roles. By lending her voice to the Hindi version, Gupta bridges two strong screen identities. For Gupta, the task was simple in theory but demanding in practice. “I just wanted it to feel honest,” she said. “If the audience believes it, then we have done our job.”Sayani Gupta is an Indian actor known for films such as ‘Margarita with a Straw,’ ‘Fan,’ ‘Jolly LLB 2,’ ‘Article 15,’ ‘Axone,’ ‘Pagglait,’ and ‘Zwigato.’ Born on October 9, 1985, in Kolkata, she is a graduate of the Film and Television Institute of India (FTII) and is widely recognized for the series ‘Four More Shots Please!’.
