Sarah Michelle Gellar, Freddie Prinze Jr. list LA home for sale

Sarah Michelle Gellar and Freddie Prinze Jr. list longtime Los Angeles family home for USD 10.5 million

Sarah Michelle Gellar and Freddie Prinze Jr., one of Hollywood’s most enduring couples, have listed their longtime Los Angeles estate for USD 10.5 million. The pair, who married in 2002 after beginning their relationship in 2000, purchased the property in Brentwood’s exclusive Mandeville Canyon neighbourhood in 2013 for USD 6.1 million. The couple raised their son and daughter at the home. According to their agent, they have since moved into a newly constructed residence elsewhere in Los Angeles.

About the property and its features

The 7,318-square-foot traditional-style residence sits on a third of an acre surrounded by rolling lawns and was originally built in 2006.The two-storey entryway opens into a spacious living room centred around a fireplace, along with an oversized formal dining room. The home also features a book-lined library, a kitchen with a dining area, and a large family room. The primary suite includes a balcony overlooking the gardens, while the property has five bedrooms and six bathrooms in total.Listing agent Cindy Ambuehl of Christie’s International Real Estate Southern California praised the home’s interiors and design updates.“It was pretty magnificent when they bought it. Sarah has a phenomenal design eye, so she had her own designers come in to pick out furniture and wallpaper and draperies,” she said. Over the years, the couple made several additions to the property, including a swimming pool and a staircase leading to the attic, which was transformed into a games room, teen hangout and gym.“They spent a ton of time there. They’d have movie nights up there,” Ambuehl added. The grounds also feature an entertainment patio, barbecue area and a resort-style swimming pool complete with a waterfall. Before officially listing the property for sale, the couple had explored renting it out and reportedly listed it for USD 60,000 a month in March and April 2025, according to Redfin.

Why Mandeville Canyon remains a celebrity hotspot

Mandeville Canyon’s privacy has long attracted celebrity residents. Over the years, notable neighbours have included Gwyneth Paltrow, Harrison Ford, Dr. Dre, Arnold Schwarzenegger and Kendrick Lamar.Ambuehl noted that listings in the area are relatively rare.“The people who live here stay for a long time,” she said. “You’re transported out of L.A. You have rolling hills and massive oaks and sycamores, and there’s only one way in and one way out.”

Sarah Michelle Gellar and Freddie Prinze Jr.’s relationship and careers

Sarah Michelle Gellar, 49, and Freddie Prinze Jr., 50, first met in 1997 on the set of I Know What You Did Last Summer, the same year Gellar began her iconic run in Buffy the Vampire Slayer. The couple began dating in 2000 and tied the knot in 2002. They also starred together in Scooby-Doo and its sequel Scooby-Doo 2: Monsters Unleashed.Gellar is currently set to star in the upcoming action comedy ‘Stop! That! Train!’, scheduled for release in June, and also served as a judge on the 2026 reboot of the talent competition Star Search.Prinze, the son of comedian Freddie Prinze, appeared in the 1998 and 2025 sequels to I Know What You Did Last Summer and co-created and executive produced the sitcom Freddie, which aired between 2005 and 2006.“They love the house and loved raising their kids in Mandeville,” Ambuehl said. “It was just time for the next phase of their life.” Go to Source
