Sanjay Kapur’s mother, Rani Kapur, supports Karisma

Sunjay Kapur Rs 30,000 crore estate row: Karisma Kapoor and her kids get support from Rani Kapur, mother of her ex-husband; ‘It is highly unlikely he would make Priya the sole beneficiary’

On June 12, 2025, Karisma Kapoor’s ex-husband, Sanjay Kapur, passed away in the UK. After his demise, a legal feud over his Rs 30,000 crore estate began. The legal battle regarding his inheritance has been going on for months now, with Karisma Kapoor and Sanjay Kapur’s children, Samaira and Kiaan, challenging the will. They alleged their father’s will was forged after his demise by his widow, Priya Sachdev. They sought an interim injunction so that Priya wouldn’t alienate them from their father’s assets. According to the latest developments, Sanjay Kapur’s mother, Rani Kapur, has joined forces with Karisma Kapoor in the ongoing estate row. She also questioned the veracity of his will, claiming that there is no chance Sanjay would not leave anything for his mother and give everything to his wife, Priya.

Rani Kapur challenges her son Sanjay Kapur’s will

According to TOI Delhi city desk, Rani Kapur submitted an appeal before Justice Jyoti Singh of the Delhi High Court. She claimed that her late son Sanjay Kapur’s wife Priya, tried every trick in the book to take control of his assets, including allegedly “massive concealment”.Rani’s lawyer, Vaibhav Gaggar, mentioned that she was never informed about her son’s will. She was shocked to learn that the papers had no mention of her, despite Sanjay publicly acknowledging that he got everything from his mother. “He (Sunjay) would have at least mentioned in the will that he did not want to give anything to his mother,” said the lawyer, adding, “There is not even a whisper about the mother in the will. She has no ownership in the company built by her husband, which was exclusively left to her.”

Rani Kapur says Sanjay Kapur would have never made Priya Sachdev the sole beneficiary

Their petition also drew attention to Sanjay and Priya having troubles in their marriage since May 2023, and thus, it was not likely for him to leave the entire estate to her. “It is highly unlikely that Sunjay would make Priya the sole beneficiary of his personal estate.” The lawyer further addressed that Sanay had a beautiful bond with all his children. He had immense love and respect for his mother and other members of the Kapur family.Last but not least, Priya has been accused of not sharing the entire list of assets with the court. Allegedly, she omitted paintings, watches, bank balances, mutual funds, life insurance, and rental income. The next hearing will be held on December 3.
