Riteish Deshmukh fires back after reporter references Salman Khan and Sanjay Dutt’s past legal controversies at ‘Lock Upp Season 2 launch: ‘I don’t think I’d like to dignify your question’

Actor Riteish Deshmukh found himself in an uncomfortable situation during the launch event of Netflix’s reality show ‘Lock Upp: Sach Ya Sazaa’. The actor, who will be seen hosting the new season alongside filmmaker Farah Khan, reacted strongly after a reporter brought up his close friends Salman Khan and Sanjay Dutt while referring to their past legal issues. The incident took place on Monday in Mumbai during the grand unveiling of the reality series. Riteish was joined by Farah Khan, producer Ekta Kapoor and Monika Shergill, Vice President of Content at Netflix India, as they introduced the upcoming season to the media.

Question on Salman Khan and Sanjay Dutt sparks tension

According to Hindustan Times, during the interaction, a journalist asked Riteish whether he would like to see Salman Khan and Sanjay Dutt participate as contestants on the show. The question referenced the actors’ previous legal troubles and suggested that both had enough experience of being inside a “lock up.”The media personnel asked, “Salman Khan and Sanjay Dutt are your closest friends. Both have a lot of experience of lock up. So, would you like to get them in Netflix’s Lock Upp? And how would you punish them?” The remark immediately changed the tone of the conversation, with Riteish appearing visibly displeased.

Riteish Deshmukh refuses to entertain the remark

Rather than answering the question directly, the actor chose to call out the nature of the query. Making it clear that he did not appreciate the comment, Riteish responded sharply. He said, “Sabse pehle mujhe nahin lagta hai ki aapke sawal ka jawab deke main usko koi dignity dena chahunga (First of all, I don’t think I’d like to dignify your question by answering it).” His response drew attention from those present at the event, with many noticing the actor’s frustration over the line of questioning. The matter did not end there, as Riteish was again asked whether he would be interested in inviting the two actors onto the reality show. This time, he clarified that contestant selection is not part of his responsibilities.Explaining his role, Riteish said, “I’ll not bring them as my duty is to host. And as a host, I don’t know about the inmates that would appear on the show. Jo bhi guests aate hai Lock Upp mein, unse hum baat karte hai (We speak to every guest who comes on Lock Upp).”The actor stressed that his involvement begins once participants enter the show and that decisions regarding casting are handled by the makers.

New faces take charge of the reality series

‘Lock Upp: Sach Ya Sazaa’ marks the return of the controversial reality format with a fresh set of hosts. While the first season was fronted by Kangana Ranaut, the upcoming edition will see Farah Khan and Riteish Deshmukh stepping into the spotlight. The new season will feature 14 celebrity contestants living as inmates inside a high-pressure prison-like environment. Cut off from the outside world and stripped of everyday comforts, participants will face demanding tasks, shifting alliances and difficult decisions as they compete to survive the game. According to the makers, every action inside the lock-up can dramatically alter the course of the competition, promising viewers an unpredictable and intense season ahead. Go to Source
