Ravi Mohan divorce case: Aarti gets relief

Ravi Mohan divorce case: Aarti gets relief as Madras High Court dismisses actor’s petition to delay maintenance case deadline

As an important turn in the legal battle between actor Ravi Mohan and his separated wife Aarti Ravi, the Madras High Court rejected the actor’s petition for further delay in the case pertaining to interim maintenance. The latest order means the deadline already fixed by the court for hearing the maintenance plea will remain unchanged. The case continues to attract attention as the divorce proceedings between the couple are still pending before the Chennai Family Welfare Court.

Court keeps the earlier two-week deadline intact

According to News 18, the dispute revolves around an interim maintenance petition filed by Aarti Ravi. In her plea, she argued that Ravi Mohan made no interim payments since April 2025 for costs associated with their children’s education. As the petition was not taken up for hearing immediately, she approached the High Court seeking urgent intervention. Earlier, the High Court directed the Family Welfare Court to hear the maintenance application and pass appropriate orders within two weeks. That direction remains in force following the latest ruling.

Aarti Ravi opposes the request for extension

Ravi Mohan later moved a fresh petition requesting the High Court to extend the time granted to the Family Welfare Court. When the matter came up before Justice Abdul Quddhose, senior advocate J. Ravindran, appearing for Aarti Ravi, strongly opposed the request. He argued that there was no need to alter the timeline already fixed by the court. After considering the submissions made by both sides, the judge declined to grant any extension and dismissed Ravi Mohan’s plea.

Family welfare court to proceed with maintenance matter

With the dismissal of the petition, the Family Welfare Court is expected to continue hearing the interim maintenance issue within the period already directed by the High Court. The judge also advised Ravi Mohan to seek any further relief directly before the Family Welfare Court, where the main proceedings are pending. The latest order is seen an important step in ensuring that the maintenance plea is heard without further delay while the larger divorce case continues through the legal process.Disclaimer: The information in this report is based on a legal hearing as reported by a third-party source.
