Ranveer’s ‘Don 3’ dispute: Producers Guild issues BIG statement

'Don 3' row: Producers Guild of India warns of ‘serious consequences’ over last-minute project walkouts without naming Ranveer Singh

Ranveer Singh’s ‘Don 3’ controversy has drawn yet another powerful voice into the fray. The Producers Guild of India issued a formal statement addressing the growing trend of talent backing out of projects at the last minute. It did so without naming Ranveer Singh directly but citing formal complaints from Excel Entertainment and Panorama Studios International, both central to the ongoing dispute. The statement signals a significant shift in the industry’s collective stance on professional accountability.

Producers Guild of India issues statement on ‘Don 3’ row

The statement makes clear that the Producers Guild of India has received official grievances from its own members, placing the matter firmly in the domain of industry governance. The statement read, “There have been growing instances of talent, directors, and technicians reneging on their commitments to producers, often at the eleventh hour. We, the Producers Guild of India, have also received formal complaints from our members, Excel Entertainment Private Limited and Panorama Studios International Limited regarding these issues coming up just days before the commencement of principal photography,” the statement read.

The Guild warned about serious consequences

The Guild did not mince words about the impact of such behaviour on the wider film ecosystem, particularly on crew members and technicians who depend on these projects for their livelihoods. The statement further read, “Such actions by any industry member have serious and far-reaching consequences and undermine the spirit of trust, professionalism, and mutual respect on which the film industry is built. These instances have caused significant reputational damage, adverse impact on credibility and brand value of the films concerned and jeopardised the livelihoods of hundreds of technicians and crew members who depend on these projects.”

Guild calls for an amicable resolution

While firmly backing the producers, the Guild also distanced itself from disruptive or coercive measures, drawing a clear line on how disputes should be handled. It added, “We would also like to state in no uncertain terms that the Guild always stands for a free and fair business environment without encouraging any encumbrances or disruptions to the process of content production. Any position to the contrary is not ethical and harms the collaborative spirit of our filmmaking community. We urge all parties to resolve their disputes amicably, and we will strive to protect the fraternity’s interests.”

Ranveer Singh reportedly exited ‘Don 3’ at an advanced stage of pre-production, allegedly causing losses of Rs 40–45 crore to the makers. The dispute has since escalated, with FWICE issuing a non-cooperation directive against the actor and Ranveer’s legal team serving a notice in response. Go to Source
