Ranbir narrates Ramayana to Raha, shares her sweet reply

Ranbir Kapoor narrates ‘Ramayana’ to Raha, shares her sweet reply: ‘Are you shooting with Hanuman?’

Ranbir Kapoor plays Lord Rama in ₹4,000 cr Ramayana, narrating tales to Raha: “Did you shoot with Hanuman?” Initially rejected role pre-fatherhood; now doubles as Parshuram. Cast: Yash (Ravana), Sai Pallavi (Sita), Sunny Deol (Hanuman). Part 1: Oct 2026.

Ranbir Kapoor is portraying Lord Rama in Nitesh Tiwari’s upcoming film ‘Ramayana’. The filmmakers showcased the movie’s teaser at a lavish event in Los Angeles for an exclusive crowd, followed by a media interaction with the team. In a new interview, the actor shared that he would narrate ‘Ramayana’ tales to his daughter Raha and remembered her response to them.

Ranbir Kapoor on Raha’s ‘Ramayana’ stories

Talking to AP, Ranbir said, “I was extremely blessed to have this opportunity that coincided with me becoming a father. On one side, I am going to work and play Lord Rama, but I am also going home and telling my daughter, Raha, stories about Ramayana. Just to see a 3-year-old so engaged and asking me, ‘Did you shoot with Lord Hanuman today? Or Sita today? What did you do today?’”He added, “She has so much interest in this story, which tells that this is in our DNA. The culture is so seeped into our subconscious that it comes very naturally — the love and interest come very naturally to us. We really want that to appeal to a larger audience and a global audience, and really share something that we have believed in for centuries and will continue to believe in for centuries.”

Ranbir Kapoor initially rejected role

Ranbir also disclosed at the LA event that he first turned down the film, feeling unprepared for Lord Rama’s role. But his daughter’s birth shifted his perspective. The actor lately confirmed he’s taking on a double role in the project. Besides Lord Rama, he’ll also portray Lord Parshuram in the film.

‘Ramayana’ cast and release details

Directed by Nitesh Tiwari, the two-part film is produced by Namit Malhotra with a reported budget of Rs 4,000 crore. It stars Ranbir Kapoor as Lord Rama, Yash as Ravana, Sai Pallavi as Sita, Sunny Deol as Lord Hanuman, and Ravi Dubey as Lakshman. This marks the most expensive Indian film ever produced. ‘Ramayana Part One’ is set for a theatrical release in October 2026, followed by the second part in 2027. Go to Source
