Megyn Kelly blames Milly Alcock for ‘Supergirl’ low box office

Megyn Kelly blames Milly Alcock for ‘Supergirl’ box office downfall: ‘We’re over the forced-upon-us girlboss era’

Megyn Kelly calls out Milly Alcock for being the reason behind ‘Supegirl’ box office numbers.

Famed TV commentator Megyn Kelly believes Milly Alcock is to blame for ‘Supergirl’ and its low box office performance. In one of the latest episodes of her talk show, Kelly called out the 26-year-old ‘House of the Dragon’ actress and shared her opinions about how the actress is one of the reasons why the latest superhero film did not work in theatres, and is now expected to lose out on a lot of money.

Megyn Kelly calls out Milly Alcock for ‘Supergirl’ low box office collection

On the June 29 episode of ‘The Megyn Kelly Show’, the commentator picked up the topic of ‘Supergirl’ and its surprisingly low box office numbers for the opening weekend. She commented about how the audience no longer wishes to watch films that are women-led and force the female superhero genre. The 55-year-old added, “We’re over the forced-upon-us girlboss era. We’re no longer buying it. It’s not that women can’t be empowered and fierce and all the great things. It’s just, stop forcing it on us in the form of ‘Supergirl.” She also shared her thoughts on Milly Alcock, who plays the leading role in the film, being a “loathsome girl.”She added in her comments, “’Supergirl’ has opened at the movie theatre well below expectations. Because its star, Milly Alcock, is as loathsome as the girl (Rachel Zegler) who played in Snow White. And seems to appreciate women in exactly the same way as that other girl did. And is receiving similar backlash.” Kelly then continued to comment about Alcock’s height and called her “weird looking.”Lastly, she shared her comments on how films like this should actually be made, even citing statistics shared online by The New York Times. The report she referenced in her show stated that audiences have a tendency to reject superhero films that are female-led.

What is the premise of ‘Supergirl’

The superhero film centres on Kara Zor-El’s story and how she navigates her life while travelling through the universe. With only her dog to keep her company, Kara is happy on her own; however, when an adversary hits too close to home, she will do everything in her power to get her only family back. Supergirl joins hands with some unlikely people to save her dog, Krypto, before things fall apart. Craig Gillespie directed the film, and Ana Nogueira wrote the script. Other than Alcock, the film also stars Matthias SchoenaertsEve Ridley, David Krumholtz, Emily Beecham, David Corenswet, and Jason Momoa. Go to Source
