‘Ramayana’: Sai Pallavi feels blessed to play Goddess Sita

Sai Pallavi on doing ‘Ramayana’: 'I don’t think I chose to play Sita maa. I was blessed to play this role'

Sai Pallavi opens up about playing Sita in Nitesh Tiwari’s ‘Ramayana’ and how she prepared herself for the role through meditating. (Instagram)

Sai Pallavi looks forward to engaging her fans with her portrayal of Goddess Sita in Nitesh Tiwari’s ‘Ramayana’. During the July 18 special event at Bharat Mandapam, where the trailer had a special screening, the actress opened up about her role on stage, explaining how she prepared for it.

Sai Pallavi talks about how she prepared for playing Sita in ‘Ramayana’

During the event, the famed actress, who made her Bollywood debut earlier this year with ‘Ek Din’, discussed her portrayal of Mata Sita in the upcoming film, sharing that she meditated to prepare for the role. She shared that, “It’s not easy for actors to get roles like this. Because it’s not easy to play a Goddess. There must be a team putting their heart and soul into making it the best version.”She added that it felt as if she had been “chosen” to play the role, sharing that, “I don’t think I chose to play Sita maa. I was blessed to play this role. It’s not something that you can go after and not something you can write down and say, this is how I want to play. I would sit and meditate and say, Sita maa, you act through me. Whatever comes through me is what you want for the film.”She also commented about how she kept herself ‘pure’, commenting that “I was always keeping myself as pure as possible, at least in my thoughts, to keep it very neutral. So I have the best version of myself presenting there.”

Nitesh Tiwari praises Sai Pallavi and Ranbir Kapoor for their role in the film

The famed director behind the film also attended the event, and had nothing but good things to say about the leading team of ‘Ramayana.’ Taking the stage, Nitesh Tiwari shared that “An actor’s eyes tell the truth. I have seen Ram in Ranbir’s eyes and Sita in Sai’s. I felt the kind of sincerity, I was looking for, I found only in these beautiful souls. I don’t see Sai and Ranbir; I see only Sita and Ram in the film.”

Special screening of ‘Ramayana’ trailer

While the trailer will officially be shared with the world on July 24 at the San Diego Comic-Con 2026, a few people who attended the Bharat Mandapam event yesterday caught a glimpse of it during a special screening. The event was attended by most of the cast members.
